Archery tournaments can be helpful to those who have very less time for serious commitments yet want to enjoy being involved in some sort of sport. The competitive form of target archery is governed by International Archery Federation. This is abbreviated as FITA. Target archery tournaments can be held both indoors as well as outdoors. The distance for indoor target archery is 18m to 25m. However, for outdoor target archery, it is 30m to 90m. The competition is distributed into rounds of 3 or 6 arrows. After each round, the competitor is required to go up to the target and bring their arrows. They also have a fixed time limit for shooting their arrows. Various rounds and distances use different size targets. For field archery, the targets are shot at varying distances. They are often held in rough terrain. They include three common types of rounds namely, the field, the hunter and the animal round. A single round consists of twenty-eight targets in two units of fourteen. The field rounds are at even distances. They are up to 80 yards and use targets with black bullÂ's-eye, a white center ring and black outer ring. The hunter rounds are at uneven distances up to 70 yards. Their scoring is similar to the field around but the target has a white bullÂ's-eye in an all black face. The animal rounds use 2D animal targets. These life-size targets are kept at uneven distances like the hunter round. The scoring is also different from that of the hunter round. Among all these archery tournaments, target archery is the mostly popular choice globally. But field archery is the one that is more popular in Europe and America.
